The Final Countdown…

Only a few days now until the start of the Scottish Parkinson’s International Open at Inverclyde National Sports Training Centre. We’ve now been given the match schedule (see below) and it looks like a packed two days! The good thing about most Parkinson’s events is that there are consolation (or plate) events for those who don’t make it through from the group stages to the knockout rounds of the main tournament. This means everyone gets to play more matches irrespective of how well they do initially.

I am reliably informed that there are 46 entrants in total with 9 coming from overseas so it should be a good standard of play. Most of the players are also staying at the venue for the weekend so it will be good to relax in the evenings with fellow Parkies and share our experience of living with PD in general and playing table tennis in particular.

I’m still not sure for certain which class I’m in but I’m assuming (hoping!) it’s class 2 for everything (Singles, Men’s Doubles with Phil and Mixed Doubles with Lynn).

Spectators are welcome to come along (free entry!) so if any Ayrshire based friends fancy coming to support us please do so even if it’s just for an hour or two! And if you’ve got a tiger shirt to wear even better! 😉
